Renovations/Minor Projects

For renovations and minor projects needs for your Department, the university uses a Space Impact Request Form which must be filled out completely, including the following information: description of request, justification for request, and anticipated source of funds for the project (this one is especially important - without a specified source of funds the Space Impact Request Form process will be delayed significantly). Forward the completed form to Facilities, Safety, and Security at the CAS Dean's Office, CPR 107, for our signature. The form will then be sent to the Provost's Office for initial approval. If approved, appropriate personnel in the USF Facilities, Planning & Construction Office(FP&C) and/or the USF Physical Plant Division will review the request, make comments where necessary, and approve or disapprove of the logistics of the project. To track the progress of your Space Impact Form, please contact Joshua Broer, 9744-0834; Bruce Smith, 974-2555; or Greg Gard, 974-4983. With all the necessary approvals in place, you will receive an official approval memo from Physical Plant outlining who your assigned Minor Projects Manager will be from the USF Facilities, Planning & Construction Office (FP&C). It will then be your responsibility to contact this individual regarding the process for obtaining a quote from a contracted vendor. Once the vendor has supplied a quote, it will then be up to the department to decide whether or not it wants to continue the planning process. This usually depends on whether or not the department has sufficient funds to cover the cost of the work. In some cases, the CAS Dean's Office will cover the overage, if any, on certain projects. The timeline to complete a given project depends on a number of variables, including: scope of the work, academic schedule, and availability of the contractor.
