Welcome
The purpose of the Performance Studies Division of the National Communication Association is to promote study, criticism, research, teaching, public awareness, and application of the artistic, humanistic, and cultural principles of performance.
Past, Present, and Future
For years, the Black Book, an overflowing three-ring binder, housed all the information needed for the officers and committees of the Performance Studies Division to chart a successful year for its members. As NCA has increasingly turned to electronic means of communication with its divisional officers and members, that Black Book has become obsolete. Its records, minutes, handbook, rosters, and agendas, however, remain necessary to our institutional memory. This site is a record of that past memory, a place to post our present, and one means to help shape the future of the Division.
Note to Self
As you navigate the site, please jot down places you can contribute. And then send your contributions!
For all the links, we need course syllabi, photos and program notes from shows, more links to graduate programs and their descriptions, web and digital performance work links, and new publication information as it becomes available.
As you’re cleaning out file cabinets and shelves, feel free to send hard copies of old Division information that are missing from this archive. We’ll keep the scanner going to create pdf documents to post here.
